Effective Recruitment and Selection
Aim
The aim of this module is to provide delegates with a systematic approach to recruitment and selection and to provide them with the skills to recruit effectively and fairly, in line with equal opportunities legislation.
Objectives
During this module participants will have the opportunity to…- identify the key stages in a successful recruitment process
- identify how to conduct the selection process in line with best practice and equal opportunities
- discuss how to use job descriptions and person specifications in the selection process
- identify what to plan and prepare before interviewing an applicant
- identify the key skills needed to interview effectively, including:
- questioning technique to qualify the candidate’s experience and understand their motivation to move
- evidence based questioning to draw out objective information about the candidate’s experience
- listening skills
- non verbal communication
- consider how to evaluate the candidates and make selection decisions
- practise the above skills
The event will be participative with a variety of training aids used to cater for the differing learning styles likely to be present in the group. To ensure the opportunity to learn is maximised roleplays will be used. Respecting the need for confidentiality delegates are invited to share their experiences in this area and to ask questions at any time.
