Conflict Handling
Aim
Managers and supervisors can spend up to 25% of their time handling conflicts, which if left unresolved can lead to a real drop in performance and motivation and cooperation within a team. This course will help participants deal with conflict more confidently and enable teams and individuals to resolve differences in a constructive way.
Objectives
During this workshop participants will have the opportunity to…
- understand the sources of conflict
- identify the different ways of dealing with conflict and what is appropriate in a given situation
- explore our preferred way of handling conflict
- develop the skills to handle conflict, including
- judging the timing
- using empathy
- questioning and listening
- giving and receiving feedback
- being assertive (not aggressive)
- consider what happens when conflict can’t be resolved
- evaluate what we can learn from a situation and how we handled it
The event will be participative with a variety of training aids used to cater for the differing learning styles likely to be present in the group. Respecting the need for confidentiality delegates are invited to share their experiences in this area and to ask questions at any time.
